The Program

The Executive Master in Finance is the last addition to IE’s portfolio of Finance programs. This face to face bi-weekly program provides participants with in-depth knowledge of finance functions including: Corporate Finance, Investments, Derivatives, Financial Accounting Analysis, Economics for Markets, Private Equity, and Commodities. This one year part- time program, with classes every two weeks, allowed participants to combine their studies with their professional career and family.

  • A solid academic syllabus focused in finance which combines the foundations of finance (corporate finance, valuation, financial analysis, derivatives, portfolio management, risk governance) with key financial topics in the headlines (investing in emerging markets, commodities, behavioural finance, creating value through corporate change, entrepreneurship through acquisitions).

Student Profile

The Executive Master in Finance is intended for professionals with a minimum of five years experience who usually, but not exclusively, work in the world of finance, and who are unable or unwilling to leave their current employment while obtaining the skills needed to allow their career to prosper.

Structure

The Executive Master in Finance Program has a total duration of 13 months with face-to-face classes in Madrid every two weeks and is taught in English. Timetable: Fridays 9:00 to 20:00 and Saturdays 9:00 to 15:00, every two weeks. The first intake will take place in February 2012.

Students admitted to the Executive Master in Finance will obtain an in depth horizontal education in finance which should allow them to speed up their senior careers in banking, asset management or private equity; or improving the chances to become a large company's Chief Financial Officer.

Requirements

To be considered for admission, a candidate must have successfully completed the following prior to submission:

  • A Bachelor's degree at an accredited college/university or equivalent.
  • A minimum of five years of work experience.
  • IE Admissions Test, GMAT, GRE or CFA level I. The test result from one of these exams is a prerequisite for admission
  • A complete application for evaluation by the Admissions Committee, including all supporting documents.

The demanding nature of the Executive Master in Finance requires that all candidates are subject to a rigorous selection process to ensure a top quality student body. The main objective of the admissions process is to fully understand the candidate’s professional background, experience and exposure, to assess the candidate’s abilities to interact and thrive within the demanding program and to select students with the highest potential.

Fees and Enrolment

The tuition fees for the February 2012 intake of the Executive Master in Finance total €34,200.

Fees for the Executive Master in Finance include:

  • All expenses related to learning activities, including, but not limited to: access to relevant technology, multimedia learning tools, conferences, access to physical and digital library resources and access to the various IE Centers of Excellence.
  • A contribution to the IE Foundation

Candidates pay a non-refundable application fee of 120€ to cover administrative costs.

Admission is valid for two intakes from the date of admission, allowing the successful applicants to plan their learning experience. In order to secure a place, prospective students are requested to pay a Place Reservation of 6.200€ (5,000€ + 1,200€ Contribution to the IE Foundation).
